What advertising boards involves

Advertising structures need a foundation that resists wind loading and goes in quickly, often on land that has to be handed back as found. Ground screws do both.

Screws are specified for the board area and exposure, driven to a set depth, and the frame is bolted to the heads straight away.

When it is needed, and why specialist installation matters

Advertising boards: materials, methods and where it applies

Wind loading and exposure

A board is a sail. Screw length, diameter and layout are set from the board area, the mounting height and how exposed the position is, not from a standard detail.

Where ground conditions vary across a plot, the specification is adjusted position by position.

Removal and reinstatement

At the end of a campaign the screws are unwound and the ground is left unsealed, with no concrete to break out and no spoil to remove.

The same screws can usually be reused on the next installation.

Board formats and foundation layout

Small forecourt and estate boards usually need a handful of screws per position, driven on the frame's post centres and loaded immediately.

Large-format displays and elevated boards concentrate far more wind load into fewer positions, so the layout, screw length and diameter are all set from the board area and the mounting height.

Where ground conditions change across a plot, made ground one side, firmer soil the other; the specification changes position by position rather than being averaged.

Campaign sites and permanent installations

For campaign and temporary sites, the removability is the whole point: screws unwind, the soil is left unsealed, and the same screws normally go straight back in at the next location.

For permanent displays, the foundation is specified to the same loading logic as any other structure, with corrosion protection from the galvanised steel.

Installation on live, trading sites is realistic because it is quick, handheld and creates no spoil, which is often the only reason the work can be done at all without closing the forecourt.

Ground conditions on advertising plots

Advertising positions are rarely on ideal ground. Development plots, verges and forecourt edges are frequently made ground, backfill or old hardstanding, and each of those behaves differently under load.

Ground screws suit all soil types, including sloping and uneven positions, which is why a screw specification can be adapted to a plot that would need an engineered concrete base otherwise.

Each screw is driven to a consistent resistance and the heads are set so the board frame sits plumb and true, so the display faces exactly where the media plan says it should.
